- Pursuant to Article 22, paragraph 2 of the Bank of Japan Act, the following Deputy Governors act for the Governor or perform the Governor's duties whenever the Governor is prevented from attending to his duties: Mr. Hirohide Yamaguchi, when Mr. Masaaki Shirakawa is prevented from attending to his duties; and Mr. Kiyohiko G. Nishimura, when Messrs. Masaaki Shirakawa and Hirohide Yamaguchi are prevented from attending to their duties.
- Pursuant to Article 22, paragraph 5 of the Bank of Japan Act, the Executive Director who is in charge of the Monetary Affairs Department acts for the Governor or performs the Governor's duties when the Governor and the Deputy Governors are prevented from attending to their duties.
