Renewal of the Bank of Japan Web Site

January 14, 2011
Bank of Japan

The Bank of Japan will launch a renewed web site on January 31, 2011 as part of its efforts to provide web services that are more user-friendly. We look forward to your continued visit to our web site.

Please note that URL addresses for the Bank's web site pages (for example, those registered as Favorites), except for the front page (http://www.boj.or.jp/), must be changed accordingly.

Major improvements to be made in the new web site are as follows.

Major improvements

1. Rearrangement of the Content Structure

The content structure of the Bank's web site will be made simpler. For example, the current indexes ("Index by Policy and Operations" and "Index by Information Type") will be abolished and all indexes will be shown on the top of the front page, sorted by policy and operation.

2. Redesign of the Web Site Pages

New navigation systems, global navigation (A below) and sub-navigation (B below), will be introduced, enabling users to access more easily the information they need.

With fewer layers of information categories and the introduction of hyperlinks, for example, "Quick Links" (C below), users can find the information they need with fewer clicks.

Switching from English to Japanese pages and vice versa can be made by clicking the active language button in the top right corner (D below).

3. Expansion of the Web Content

As an improved search guide, users will find a brief overview of the content (E below) on the top page of each category in the global navigation bar. Hyperlinks that enable easy access to more detailed information will become available.

Moreover, to meet various information search needs more effectively, a list of reports and papers released by the Bank, including those released by the Bank's Institute for Monetary and Economic Studies, will become available.
