Revision to the Consumption Activity Index

In response to the following change, figures of the Consumption Activity Index have been retroactively revised.

Change of the source statistics for "gas"

With the termination of the release of "sales volume of city gas" by the Japan Gas Association, the Bank has decided to use the "Current Survey of Gas Production," published by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, as the source statistics for "gas" in the Consumption Activity Index instead. Considering the differences between the two statistics, such as the coverage of gas suppliers, figures of the Consumption Activity Index from April 2017 onward have been retroactively revised, using the new source statistics.
