The Bank has changed some of the items in the tables in "Monetary Base and the Bank of Japan's Transactions" from the data for November 2002 released today.
The old item "Purchases of Japanese government bonds (JGBs) under repurchase agreements," which now includes the amount of the Bank's purchases of JGBs, treasury bills (TBs) and financing bills (FBs), has been renamed "Purchases of Japanese government securities (JGSs) under repurchase agreements." In addition, a new item "Sales of JGSs under repurchase agreements" has been introduced. Due to these changes, the items "Purchases of TBs and FBs under repurchase agreements" and "Sales of TBs and FBs under repurchase agreements" have been discontinued. The Bank will also cease releasing figures for "Borrowing of JGBs against cash collateral (JGB repos)" when the outstanding balance reaches zero.
In addition, with the start of the Bank's purchase of stocks from banks, the Bank has established a new item, "Pecuniary trust (stocks held as trust property)."
