Criteria for Exchange of Damaged Banknotes
The Bank replaces damaged banknotes with new
banknotes following the criteria below, provided that the two sides of the
banknote are maintained, and the damaged banknotes are brought to the Bank's
head office or branches by the possessor or his/her agent. Burnt banknotes are
also exchangeable for new ones following the same criteria, provided that
remaining ashes prove to be of banknotes.
- A damaged banknote with two-thirds or more of the original remaining
isexchanged at full face value.
- A damaged banknote with two-fifths or more, but less than two-thirds,of
the original remaining is exchanged at half face value.
- A damaged banknote with less than two-fifths of the original remaininghas
no value.
