Bank of Japan

The Bank of Japan has started to release today the "Regional Economic Report" from the April 2005 issue. The full text of the report in Japanese and the summary in English are available on the Bank's web site.

The report consists of an analysis of regional economic conditions incorporating various economic data and anecdotal information gathered by all regional research divisions, mainly at the Bank's branches in Japan. With its release, the Bank aims to enhance the quality of its research that supports policy implementation, and share information gained from its research with the public.

The report will be published quarterly after the Bank's branch managers' meetings. The "Review of Regional Economies by Eleven Branches of the Bank of Japan," available only in Japanese, was discontinued after the January 2005 issue with the commencement of this report in April 2005.

The report was prepared by the Research and Statistics Department's section, Regional Economy, which was established on April 1, 2005.
