This is the vault's interior as viewed from the original outer door.
The dark-colored floor spanning both sides of the area in front of the door is finished with a durable coating of asphalt imported from the United Kingdom. It is part of the corridor originally used as a surrounding passageway. This area was subsequently used from 1932 until June 2004 as additional vault space in which to store banknotes and other valuables.
