September 24, 1999
Bank of Japan

On September 19, 1999, the Bank of Japan conducted a drill for the BOJ-NET.* In the drill, BOJ-NET operations were switched from the Bank's computer center in Tokyo (the primary site of BOJ-NET operations) to the backup center in Osaka in the Year 2000 environment (i.e., January 4, 2000). The drill was successfully completed without Year 2000-related problems.

* The Bank of Japan conducts a drill every year for the BOJ-NET to enhance the ability of BOJ-NET users and the Bank staff to address system disruptions at the Bank's computer center in Tokyo. This year's drill was conducted as part of the usual drill with the simulated date in the year 2000 to address the Year 2000 problem.

Note

1. Participants - Bank of Japan headquarters and branches
- 588 BOJ-NET users (CPU-to-CPU interface users and other users who volunteered to participate)

2. Simulated Date Tuesday, January 4, 2000
