Bank of Japan's Year 2000 Arrangements during the Rollover Period

1. Staffing Arrangements

At the time of the rollover (i.e., from December 31 to January 1), approximately 600 members of the Bank of Japan's staff will be on duty at the headquarters, branches and offices.

Staffing levels during the rollover period (i.e., from December 31 to January 4) will vary depending on the circumstances. If no significant Year 2000 problem materializes, the Bank will have approximately 1,700 members of its staff on duty in total throughout the period.


2. Information Center at the BOJ headquarters

From Dec. 31, 1999 to Jan. 4, 2000, the Bank of Japan's Information Center will have staff on site on a 24-hour basis to conduct Year 2000 communications with relevant parties such as the government and foreign central banks. For financial institutions that have current accounts at the Bank, their primary contact points are the relevant offices, departments or branches of the Bank.


3. Public Announcement on Year 2000 Issues

The Bank of Japan will make public information, including the results of in-house tests of its basic facilities conducted after the rollover and the operational status of the BOJ-NET, according to the schedule below. The Bank will make additional announcements if circumstances require them.
