1. Topic

Next year marks the 10th year since the currency crisis hit the Asian economies. Since that time, having been severely disrupted by that crisis, the economies have charted a strong recovery. The crisis triggered a series of structural reforms in the economies and gave rise to a variety of regional initiatives and cooperative efforts in the years following the crisis.

At this key juncture, as the region looks toward the future, this symposium has been organized to provide an opportunity to hear from prominent Asian central bank governors who, together with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, will discuss the future challenges facing the Asian economies and financial markets as well as further cooperation in the region.

3. Program

Guest speakers will speak on the economic dynamism of Asia since the crisis. Following the speeches, all guest speakers and the Governor of the Bank of Japan will hold a panel discussion on Asia's future challenges (please see Attachment (17KB) ).

4. Audience

Invitations will be extended to 100-150 delegates of Japanese business organizations, financial institutions, embassies, and central bank representative offices in Japan.
