For the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), the treatment of foreign exchange rate movement in converting the "contract currency" basis index to the "yen basis" index has been changed from the January 2000 figures. Among the components of the index, the Export Price Index and the Import Price Index are affected by this change, while the Domestic Price Index is not1. The January 2000 figures under the former treatment and their monthly and annual changes are shown on the next page as a reference2.
