The head office of the Bank of Japan consists of the Old Building,
the New Building and the Annex Building.
The Old Building is the oldest building of the Bank of Japan
and was built in 1896. With the Geihin-kan (the state guest-house)
in Akasaka, Tokyo, it is one of the best examples of western-style
architecture of the Meiji era (1868-1912) and is designated
an important cultural property.
