This is the business license issued by the Minister of Finance, under which the Bank was founded on October 10, 1882.
In its early days, the Bank pushed forward with developing a banking network, while withdrawing from circulation the excessively issued government notes and national bank notes before issuing Bank of Japan notes.
A sideline story
The business license above permitted the Bank to operate until October 9, 1913, but the correct expiration date was October 9, 1912. The Bank was notified of the correction in 1894.
