Exterior view of the Old Building

[Dr. Kingo Tatsuno, the Architect of the Old Building]
The former main building, the oldest part of the Old Building, was designed by Dr. Kingo Tatsuno (1854-1919), a well-known architect of the day who also designed the red-brick Tokyo Station.
He traveled the United States and European countries in 1888 - 1889 to study the architecture of those countries' central banks prior to starting his design work.
