More and more financial institutions in the disaster-hit area particularly in the Tohoku region are operating their business during this weekend in order to respond to withdrawal of deposits smoothly.

The Bank of Japan informed the financial institutions in the Tohoku region that it stood ready to support such initiatives as necessary, and responded to cash withdrawal by the financial institutions.

In addition, the Bank also keeps close contact with financial institutions other than those mentioned above and stands ready to respond flexibly.
