Winding up of the Stock Purchasing Program

The Bank of Japan today wound up its stock purchasing program.
The Bank has purchased stocks held by commercial banks to a total value of 2,018.0 billion yen since its stock purchasing program was first implemented in November 2002.
The Bank, in principle, will not start selling the purchased stocks until the end of September 2007.
The Bank will start disposing of the purchased stocks from October 2007 at the earliest and will complete the disposal by the end of September 2017.
