Announcement of the Monetary Policy Meeting Decisions (Sep. 14)

At the Monetary Policy Meeting held today, the Bank of Japan decided, by majority vote, to maintain the following guideline for money market operations for the inter-meeting period:The Bank of Japan will encourage the uncollateralized overnight call rate to move on average around 0.25%.

- Mr. Hayami was absent from 9:01 a.m. to 10:20 a.m. to attend a meeting of the Ministerial Council which discussed issues including the Economic Planning Agency's Monthly Economic Report. During his absence, Mr. Fujiwara performed the duties of chairman pursuant to Article 16, Paragraph 5 of the Bank of Japan Law of 1997.
