Addition of a New Item to the Portfolio Investment Assets by Quotation Currency

The Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Japan will add the Chinese yuan to the currency breakdown of the Portfolio Investment Assets by Quotation Currency, which is released monthly as part of the Portfolio Investment Assets/Liabilities in the balance of payments related statistics. The addition will start with the upcoming release of January 2024 data on March 8, 2024. The data of the Chinese yuan for January 2022 through December 2023 will be added in the next revision, scheduled for April 8, 2024.
