Changes in the Formats of MS-Excel File Releases of the Tankan

The formats of MS-Excel file releases of the Tankan will be partly changed as of the March 2019 survey. The Tankan Summary and Tankan Outline will be released on April 1, 2019. The Tankan Summary of "Inflation Outlook of Enterprises," Tankan Figures by Industry, and Tankan: The Comprehensive Data Set will be released on April 2, 2019.
The details are as follows.1
- (1) The MS-Excel file extensions (including the files compressed in the zip files) will be changed from ".xls" to ".xlsx" in the following: the Tankan Summary; Tankan Figures by Industry; the Tankan Summary of "Inflation Outlook of Enterprises"; and the Tankan: The Comprehensive Data Set.
- (2) Some of the cell addresses in the MS-Excel files (including the files compressed in the zip files) will be changed. These changes will be in the sheet of the Judgement Survey in the Survey of Financial Institutions. The corresponding file names and sheet names are listed below. Please refer to the Appendix [XLSX 58KB] for the new release format.

Notes:
- Along with the above changes, the release format of the Tankan will be partly changed as of the March 2019 survey. For details, see "Changes in Tankan Release Format and Release File Formats" (December 17, 2018).
- "YYMM" represents year and month. For instance, "all1903f.xlsx" refers to the Tankan: The Comprehensive Data Set of the March 2019 survey.
